While oud is a strong presence in many of the Boadicea the Victorious perfumes, there are a few where the oud is ramped up and the other materials revolve around like planets to a smoky, woody sun.
Nemer is one of these superstar oud perfumes. The name derives from the Arabic for Tiger and is used to refer to Tiger Oud, extracted from the distinctive striated bark pattern the tree develops as materials are carefully cleaved. The oud in Nemer is full-bodied and velveteen, smooth and deeply aromatic, a satisfying radiance of that indefinable exhalation that has exploded oud through the global perfume market.
There are lot of powerful notes swirling around in Nemer that make the perfume so attractive to wear and be around. Saffron and aromatic black pepper are mixed with lemongrass, acting as a delicious overture to the Moroccan and Turkish roses that sweep in like red night. They are provocative, blowsy and romantic in turn, supported by an embrace of woods, patchouli and amber.
An important note in the later stages of Nemer is cypriol an earthy, bonfire smoke thing, robustly atramental and tawny. It smells of snarling claw, growly fur appropriately for a tiger scent. It has more presence than incense and the smokiness is more bitter, but it exalts the floral rush of the roses while acting as a fixative to ease out the fade and hush of Nemer’s beautiful drydown.
